Group Cruises: Oasis of the Seas a Great Choice
Are you planning a reunion cruise or a group cruise? If that's you, then there's something you need to know. Royal Caribbean is in the process of building the largest cruise ship ever -- the Oasis of the Seas -- and she'll be hitting the water in December of 2009. This will be a perfect cruise ship for group cruises. Why? Here's my list of reasons: 1. SHE'S ENORMOUS Small ships are great for cruise groups with primarily senior passengers, but for multi-generational groups, you're "going to need a bigger boat." Okay, sorry. I couldn't resist. Large ships are just better for group cruises. The Oasis of the Seas will be more like a "behemoth of the seas." This can work in your favor if you're planning a group trip. Why? You'll have more stateroom choices (something for every budget), more dining choices (to accommodate finicky eaters or dietary restrictions), and more choices for both individual and group activities (sports, spa, library, movies, pool, etc.). Your group will be happier if they have more choices to select from. 2. SHE HAS GREAT PUBLIC SPACES Group cruisers are obviously getting together so they can spend time together. The size of most staterooms isn't really conducive for hanging out - so, you're going to need a ship with a lot of great public space where your group members can gather. The Oasis of the Seas is slated to have many fabulous and interesting public spaces. One of the most fantastic areas is called Central Park - a tranquil public space designed with plants, trees, and many cozy spots for private conversations. The ship will also have an outdoor space called The Boardwalk - created with families in mind. It will have a carousel, carnival games, and a great outdoor amphitheater. These are just two of the many well-designed public spaces aboard this ship. 3. SHE HAS A CONVENIENT DEPARTURE PORT & GREAT ITINERARY When this ship is launched In December of 2009, her home port will be Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is a convenient departure port for people going on a cruise - rather than departing from Los Angeles, Boston, or San Juan, Puerto Rico. Second, the initial itinerary for the Oasis will be a 7-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary with port stops in St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and the Bahamas. On May 1, 2010 the ship will alternate between Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean itineraries. The latter port stops will be Labadee, Jamaica, and Cozumel. These are fantastic itineraries which can be combined for a two-week cruise to both the Eastern and Western Caribbean in what's called a "back-to-back" cruise. CONCLUSION Royal Caribbean will begin taking bookings for this ship on September 3, 2008. If you're looking for a great choice for your group that has all the options you need - seriously consider this ship. Royal Caribbean is very group-friendly and is accommodating to special requests. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there!
